I do not belong to the Plano club, but would come out if allowed. I belong to one of the Fort Worth Camera Clubs.

I think it's a member only affair (at least to shoot, don't know about assisting). When I get home, I'll look up the information and cut and paste. I think it's like a 9 until 3 shoot at an outdoor location over by Carrolton? I can't remember the exact location. Some period costumes are involved... but I'm going from memory. It was postponed due to weather two weeks ago (guess). More to come. Leslie might know some more in the mean time.

What clubs are available to join in the DFW area? I live in Richardson and I would dearly love to part of a club.

thanks!

Hey Scott ~

yes, im a member and I will be there. Its definitely the15th, and if i remember correctly will be held at Farmers Branch Historical Park.

Everything Ive heard so far regarding attendance requires membership to the PPC and a very small prepaid fee - like $5.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Plano Photography Club's Fall Model Shoot - 10-13-2005, 08:36 PM

To all,

I'll try not to sound snotty, but this Club's activity this strictly restricted only to current club members who have already paid the sign-up fee. The gates to the event will lock at 9:15 am. This is a great event, however after the last Model Shoot experience, we had to create the strict requirements.
Last time a certain photography class got wind of this event and showed up. This not only increase the model-to-photographer ratio, but 25 photographers became no-show when it came time to deliver the images to the models. Photo asistance are not allowed unless they are paid/registered members.
My apologies for the tone of this message, but I'm on the event commitee and do not want another experience like last time.

Wow.

And there went any chance at all of me joining the "PPC," just like every other experience w/ Plano in general.

Oh and my apologies for the tone of this message, but I'm not too keen on exclusiveness.

It's but no means exclusive, just has some boundries due to others who abused it last time...

Sorry to hear that. The plano club is the fastest growing club in the metroplex. They have some fantastic photogs who win many awards and are always willing to mentor, plus each month they have a excellent speaker. However, if not being able to show up at the last minute for a club planned event [meaning we pay for it with out dues] means you dont want to be a part of the club sounds rather petty to me. And of course, I dont represent Plano Photography club, but Im quick to defend it.

The part about no assistants is just plain silly if you ask me. You want me to shoot models outdoors, by myself, with no one to help hold reflectors or scrims. If you want professional results, you need to shoot like one. I've seen behind the scenes shots where there are 3 or 4 assistants doing all sorts of jobs. Not to mention hair, makeup, fluffer oops, wrong kind of shoot

I fully understand no shooters aside from club members, but this is going to make it a little tough. Maybe I'll see if I can hook up with another club member in attendance. Hey BlonBoy, you up for it?
