Headshot - 04-27-2009, 03:48 PM

My boss wants to hire me to do a new headshot for her, I work for a real estate company and well I get used a lot for photography stuff. But this time it's my boss and she is super, supppper picky, so I'm looking for an outdoors spot, perferrbly around the Las Colinas area, I did mention the canals, not sure what all is around here I know you would need a permit for the canals but what if it's not a paid shoot will they still come down strick? I'm going to try and blur the back ground as much as we can so maybe location won't be that important. But we want good natural light so anyway I guess since this is my boss I'm a little nervous. I'm used to most kinds of shoots but I guess when it's the person who employs you it gets scary. Not that I should worry it wouldn't be like that.

What kind of real estate does she sell? Using an example of the type of property behind her would be a better backdrop than the canals (where it would be extremely embarrassing if you were there and got caught without a permit ... I wouldn't take the chance on whether you need it or not). Most important for outdoors is finding nice, even light, preferably shade. Harsh sunlight doesn't flatter anybody.

Background almost never matters for a headshot.. they can be done just about anywhere you have good light.

If she's that picky, you could always send her to me.

Yup, the point of a headshot isn't to showcase scenery or background.

LOL she is my boss so she does not sell real estate. I'll figure it out, She lives over by me in the mid-cities so we can always run up to the park that's over by us if all else fails.

Heh .. yes I am!

Actually, I only suggested it because her profile says Hurst and figured she was close by.

Do a Butterfly shot and use a reflector underneath and a hair light in the back.

You are assuming that she has that kind of equipment or access to a studio.
