I heard about this on Autoblog. The Gumball 3000 is an exotic car rally that is going coast-to-coast this week. Will be in Dallas at the AAC Plaza on Tuesday, 5/5.

Details:

"This year's Gumball isn't just for those driving on the 3000 mile dash from Los Angeles to Miami. You can join the spectacle too at one of our five free public displays, where we'll be parading over 100 of the world's most desirable automobiles. We'll be setting up shop in Santa Monica, Santa Fe, Dallas, New Orleans and Miami so come down and join the party."

"There will be everything from drophead Rolls Royces, classic Cadillacs and more Ferraris than you can shake a dipstick at. Not to mention a vintage De Tomaso Pantera and a couple of Bugatti Veyrons."

I assume there will also be a Mavs watch party at the AAC that evening. Could be some great photo ops. Not sure I'd be able to make it, but would love to see photos anyone else gets.

im definitely going. Im at work at the AAC already, so im just going to hang here till they show up. i made sure to bring my camera gear with me today too. :)

Just so you guys know, it says on the Gumball official Twitter page that they will be arriving between 7-11pm though.

What do you do there? I used to shoot concerts up there all the time for the DMN. I haven't been there in a few months, though...

No it's a little further down, behind the W hotel. Went ahead and ran home to pick up a jacket just in case it rains, which looks like it will.

I run the merchandise warehouse and decide what product to send to what locations. I also vend merch at all of the concerts. Unfortunately nothing photography related. Got any hook ups with the DMN I could use? ;)

I left the parking lot at 7:15. By then only 8 cars had shown up, and 2 of them pulled out.

The rest probably came in right after I took off!

No rain....the sun was trying to come out when I left.

Yeah you left way too early. The parking lot was pretty much full by maybe 10:00. Some really awesome cars showed up toward the end.

a few of my favorite shots i got from the night. I was restricted to my 70-200 2.8L IS though, so no good wide angle shots here. :(

Hopefully picking up one very soon though!
