Beach Theme - 05-29-2009, 01:10 PM

Does anyone know where I could fake a beach theme in the Dallas area? I live in Plano and don't want to drive too far, but will if I have to.

Stonebridge Ranch in Mckinney has a beach pool that is a really good size and might work for you.

In the studio? Use a few bags of sand over a large plastic bag, like a mattress bag and a white background. You can spray blue paint on a white seamless to pretend it's the ocean and shoot with hot lights to blur it, or lift the background and replace it with a real beach from a stock image. I saw a video of Dean Collins doing just this.

Lake Ray Roberts has a large sandy beach. I took some photos there several years ago and it looked like I took them on an island somewhere and I wasn't even trying for that effect.

I live in Stonebridge, and yes, we do have a beach, but it's at a private country club. Also, it gets very crowded during the summer. Same goes with the beach posted above. In fact, we are going to the Lake Ray Roberts beach next week. Now, if you go early to Ray Roberts, like really early, you might be ok. There is a fee to go in, but it's not that much.

I agree.
We have lots of parks that have the sand volleyball area with white sand. Get a ladder to only capture the sand area and your in business.

Thanks for all the ideas...I did check into Stonebridge...was supposed to get a call back from the board of directors but never did. Had to delay the shoot all together, but am thinking of Lake Ray Roberts, also my cousin said that Lake Granbury has a beach, she took great pictures of a cheer squad there.

BenBrook in FTW has a beach also. I would think you would need to be there real early.
