Balconies at the Los Colinas Canals - 08-19-2009, 11:33 AM

We are doing a shoot down at the Canals and were wondering if anybody knew how to get onto some of the balconies in the building behind sallee's.

Contacting building management would be a good place to start, I would think.

You can get to those from the parking garage. Most of them have a 2x4 that locks them, but I've seen some open before.

Actually the balconies do have a few that are open, BUT they are locked for a reason...some have building defects and the balconies are not real safe for anyone. Sallee Photography has a key to the main balcony, but I doubt you would be able to utilize that, as that is his prime spot for doing really amazing bridals. There are MANY other places within that area to shoot and get some really amazing pictures. Be creative and you will find a wonderment of opportunites along the canal area. :o)

I just went and spent the last 20 min on Sallee Photography's website. Now I am going to go throw away all my gear.... Freaking amazing work.

Thanks, Janice! $50 isn't bad at all for a non-commercial advertisement photo shoot.

Keep in mind that it is still private property and even a permit doesn't give you the right to trespass.

Yep.. and that permit is only for a certain area of the canals.. You'd be surprised how much is not on the map.

The permit isn't bad, it's the $1,000,000 liability policy that'll get 'ya.

Last time we went (about a month ago) all of the balcony doors had been nailed shut with 2x4's. We checked all the floors of the parking garage too. Didn't know about a 'main' balcony though. Maybe we missed it.

I know Las Colinas demands the liability because they have had many issues with people falling and hurting them selfs and also a few deaths in the past few years. Trust me, they could care less about the $50 permit fee, it is the control over who is on their private property that they care more about.
