Prosper/Frisco/McKinney Nature-y

This is a discussion on Prosper/Frisco/McKinney Nature-y within the Dallas/FW Area Photo Locales forums, part of the Dallas / Fort Worth category; I'm very new to this (I've actually only done one session so far) and have a friend of a friend ...

Prosper/Frisco/McKinney Nature-y - 08-19-2009, 10:56 PM

I'm very new to this (I've actually only done one session so far) and have a friend of a friend who wants me to do family pics of them with their 18-mo-old son. They just moved to Prosper, TX from California, so they want sort of a "nature-y, Texas-y" feel that they can send back to their (non-TX) family without being too cheesy. Any ideas? I went driving around Prosper/Celina tonight and saw tons of gorgeous areas with old barns, hay, fields of all kinds of different colors and textures.... BUT it all looks like private property. Does anyone have some suggestions that won't get me arrested or shot?

It does not my any means have to be in Prosper/Frisco area, but Fort Worth would be way too far. That's just sort of a starting point. THANK YOU!

Plano Nature Preserve. Heritage Farnmstead might be perfect. http://www.heritagefarmstead.org/index.htm
and Frisco has an historic area featuring restored structures that I'm sure someone here can give you more details about.

Thanks! So I guess you just pay the admission fees at Heritage Farnmstead (looks like it's only $2per adult) and then you can shoot away?

You should contact them since you are doing a formal shoot of a family as opposed to just a visitor taking snapshots.

If you find a setting you really like, you could also simply ask the owners of the property. Thank them by offering an artistic print of their property or doing a mini session for them.

You might also suggest doing another session in the spring in a field of bluebonnets ... the quintessential Texas family portrait shot.

Looks like we're going to the Frisco spot - thanks for all your help! By the way, I found some links on their site to some images. Thought I'd share in case that helps someone else.
