Llano is the only place that I know that's close to Dallas, but it's not that close.

I've been told, but can't confirm that Bald Eagles winter along the Red River near Lake Texoma. I just googled it and found this site for eagle watching tours.

Lake Buchanon north west of Austin has had eagles nesting there for many years but they are on private land so you have to go up the river and stay on the water to see them.

http://www.vtrc.com/seasonal_cruises.html $33 is the listed price for 9 am Sat cruises, don't know if the lake is up enough for them to get way back up the river (they couldn't this past summer)
Coming up in Feb 2010

this is about 100 miles from Dallas-2 big lakes in the county

There is at least one nesting pair on Lake Ray Roberts, but you will probably need to hire a guide to get to them. The location is kind of a guarded secret.

Most of the locations mentioned such as Lake Fork, Lake Texoma, Ray Roberts, Tawakoni and Fairfield have eagles during the winter months, best around February.

They all require a boat to get to where they nest. Otherwise the nesting pair at Llano is accessable with a long tele.

Here is a link to some info regarding Lake fork and Tawakoni.
http://www.eaglefest.org/

If your willing to go north then Quartz Mountain in Oklahoma has eagles during the winter months as does Kaw Lake in northern Oklahoma.

Can anyone confirm/deny the eagle sightings around the Ray Roberts lake? Would really like to get a picture of one if I can this winter, and live right down the road from the lake. Any help or tips is greatly appreciated

There is a nesting pair there as I understand it. Speak to the park rangers. Their location is not totally secret, but it isn't readily available to everyone. You will probably need a guide with a boat to get to them.
