Towne Lake park has a great woodsy place just on the south side of the lake. It is quiet and seems remote even though it is not. HTH!

I heard there was a park in Plano or Frisco area that has nice waterfalls. Do you guys know what I'm talking about? I have a shoot with a Plano family next Saturday and I live in Bedford...just trying to find a good option.

Thanks!!

Sounds like Prairie Creek Park, Richardson/Plano area. It is nice but gets crowded with lots of photogs on weekends. The falls are very small and only run when there has been enough rain. (no problem this year). You can search it here- I know it is on the photo op locales sticky somewhere. Search for Prairie Creek Park.

I am very new to the forum, so thank you for the info. Do you know of any other options for great photos in that area? Maybe where there is still alittle foilage? I head of Central Park in Frisco also, but not sure if that's a great spot or not.

Thanks!!

Yes, that is nice too. Only problem is that there are lots of buildings in the bg. Personally, I don't like that! Plano has other parks that are nice too. A great place for very wooded photos is in West Plano called Arbor Hills. It is right in the city but very secluded and has many fantastic spots under the trees and with wooden and stone bridges and buildings. It is off Parker Road between the Tollway and Preston.

Sorry, we didn't mean to hi-jack your thread!

There's a tiny stretch of woods not far from the Courthouse. It's on the east side of 75 (across from the Courthouse) on that little bit of Redbud that hooks up with Bloomdale. There's a cemetery right there on that corner, but a dirt road runs along the side of that, then the woods are behind the cemetery. I've never been back there, tho I work for Collin County, so I pass by a couple of times a day! I really should check it out. I don't know how good a location it would make, tho. There's also some woods that look really nice right across from the Courthouse on Bloomdale Rd., that would be on the south side of the road. Word of warning, don't use the woods between the Courthouse and the new Admin building, they're FULL of snakes. The County was talking about making walking trails and a picnic area in there for the employees to use.......but nixed that idea really quick because of the snakes!

Actually Arbor Hills is between Midway and Marsh Ln. on Parker Rd, west of the tollway.

there is a waterfall, but its better in the spring/summer when the trees are not all barren..and yes lots of photgraphers out there.

Hi - newbie here. :)

A note about Arbor Hills - it is very nice, but it is CROWDED - hikers, runners, bikers, etc... Especially on the weekends. Having been there many times myself (running), I really wouldn't recommend this for a weekend session. It is so beautiful right now - the foliage is stunning and leaves are covering parts of the trails. It's a shame it's so busy...

Even though it can be crowded, there are LOTS of off the beaten path areas in the trees and off the hiking trails that are just fabulous. I go there all the time on weekends, and never had much problem finding a good spot- no matter how crowded it is. One place in particular I like is just off the path near one of the stone & wooden bridges. You can get way down in the woods and sit on fallen logs. It really looks great with all the fallen leaves and foliage.

Kay, I'll have to poke around more - I was just there this past Sunday for a run and ran the entire path - I was constantly dodging people. I think I know what location you're talking about...have you had any problems w/poison ivy, etc? I shoot a lot of kids, so I know that's a question parents would ask. :)

not so far- but I know it is all around everywhere. Just be careful! I have kids sit ON the logs and not play around in the ground area. I would also be on the look-out for snakes and scorpions. They like logs too!
