Check the other thread "color in DFW." It has some nice images. I was there Sunday and the maple leaves are bright red. Nice colors and a good time before all the leaves fall off the trees.

Tomorrow (Friday) should be a good day to be there. Forecast calls for overcast skies and possibility of rain. Nicely diffused light for saturated colors. Might have to head out there myself.

Was there last Sunday, the same time as Todd. Nice colors. Seems it will remain for some time. So this weekend should be good, too.

I was there today. Colors are great.

They charge $75 if you want to use a tripod.
Sucks...
Lots of people there today.
Best to go during the week so you can have the place all to yourself.

I agree it is unfortunate. They have had problems in the past with photographers setting up very big tripods in the very narrow paths and people couldn't get past. It's because of the poor actions of a few photographers that venues feel the need to put out these restrictions.
Monopods ARE allowed.

I agree and understand that it would be a huge problem.
I went ahead and paid the $75 today though.
Can't get the good depth of field and bracket without it.

North Side - around the Stockyards. There's a fence around the property & I didn't feel like trespassing. Some interesting (old) buildings though...

They filmed a lot of episodes of "some TV show I can't remember the name of about being in prison and escaping, etc. " there.
I'm suffering today from ""oldtimers disease"". What were we talking about ?

The photos of abandoned buildings in my "out and about" section. I KNOW what you mean - now where did I put my head?
