Valley Mills-Laguna Park-Clifton-Whitney-Hillsboro

Does anyone know of any photo locales in that area? I'm planning to do some family photos (mostly a 1-yr-old girl) on Saturday but I'm not really familiar with the area. I tend to like historic downtown areas with colorful walls and open shade and I figure there HAS to be a ton of that down there, but I don't know specifics. I would think someplace green/floral would be nice since it's mostly a 1-year-old girl but I worry about direct sunlight (shadows, squinting) and about greenery being a bit yucky-looking this time of year.

The family lives in Valley Mills and we'll in Laguna Park (on Lake Whitney). So somewhere in-bewtween or not too terribly far from those places would be great. (I think Waco's arboretum is too far.)

Any suggestions or photos you might be able to share?

If I recall....Meridian has some nice scenery. We used to drive through there on our way to Killeen when we lived in Cleburne, much nicer drive than 35! I always thought Meridian was a picturesque little town, and it's right up the road from Valley Mills, not too far out of the way from Lake Whitney.

Oh, and the square in Hillsboro is ok, too. Not as cute as maybe what you're looking for, but it's not completely ugly, either, and I love the Hill Co. Courthouse!
