Question Where is a fantastic location to shoot the Ft. Worth Skyline?? - 11-25-2009, 09:51 PM

I'm sure this question has been asked, if so, my apologies for for the thread dupe.

I am looking for a great location to shoot the Ft. Worth Skyline at dawn or dusk. I am going to be in town for a couple of days and need to make it worth my time. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Thank you very much Captain Tom,
I really appreciate it. Wow, this site must keep you busy because 13,852 is a lot of posts my friend.
Also, thanks for adding the picture, it's a cool shot and the moon adds a great effect to the image. If you don't mind me asking, what focal length did you shoot this at?

have a nice Thanksgiving,
STeve

I don't remember the focal length but it was using something less than 200mm.

The moon is a photoshop "miracle".

Oh ok, I was trying to get an idea of what I needed to bring with me to capture the skyline. Depending on distance from subject, I use many different focal lengths.

I haven't decided whether or not photoshop is a miracle or the beginning of the end. Anyway, the moon is a nice element. Thanks again

Tom's location is great. Super vantage point and a safe area. Or you can look here http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...-location.html for a shot like this:

Hummm, being safe is nice. How safe is this place? This should be a question I should have asked from the beginning, lol. As a photographer, I tend to chase the picture without worry or fear sometimes. Kind of like a beagle, once my nose hits the ground I loose sight of everything else. Thank you for adding your picture, the FW skyline couldn't have be captured on a better evening. Your reflections are beautiful.

Thank you Debbi

The location I posted is not in the safest area of town. It's not a place I would recommend going alone with lots of equipment but that's just me - I'm a big chicken. However, when I went, I did feel pretty safe (thanks Wes).

Ok, Thanks Debbi. I will make arrangements to shoot both places on different days or catch a sunrise when all the evildoers are asleep. Have a nice Thanksgiving.

Debbi's location is over 2 yrs old. How do we know the city is even still there??

Her location faces East and would be a great sunrise spot.
My location faces north and works best after dark in my opinion.

PM me when and where you'll be, and I might stop by and give you a hard time.

It's three years old but who's counting? I've never been a wizard at directions but doesn't mine face south and your's face east? Mine is north of downtown yours is west - unless Amon Carter moved? I'm so confused.

Another location that has water and reflections.

University Dr. north of White Settlement Rd. University crosses the Trinity River and extends east toward the city. You have to shoot from the bridge but it is otherwise a safe place.

One more.

Oakwood Cemetery
enter the cemetery and go toward the city. nice view across the Trinity.

From the Trinty banks - 12-07-2009, 07:24 PM

I took these a couple of weeks ago (11/28/09) from off 7th St. on the Trinity Levy facing East. There is access via a couple of industrial parking lots to make the short climb up the hill.

Glad to know of these other suggestions.
