What do you like to shoot? Both Cleburne and Hillsboro have interesting buildings to see, and both have really cute Courthouse squares. In Cleburne, along the north end of Lake Pat, on the west shore, there's a Chisolm Trail outdoor museum, I believe that point was a water crossing along the Trail, and it's also the site of the first County seat, before it was moved to Cleburne. If you continue south on TX 174 to Meridian, there's lots of beautiful landscapes along the route, and Meridian is another small town with many opportunities. From there you could take Hwy 6 back up to Hico (where some people believe the real Billy the Kid is buried!) and then TX 220 back to US 67, which will take you back in to Cleburne by way of Glen Rose, OR you can also take TX 144 from Meridian which goes directly to Glen Rose and US 67 (the way through Hico will put you on 67 a little west of Glen Rose.) I haven't lived in Cleburne in 5 years, so a lot may have changed since I was there, but I know they were working on a small botanical garden next to the Wal-mart on Henderson. It's probably done by now. You can also drive by Lake Pat Cleburne, along Lakeshore Dr.,
City of Cleburne Site.
Also, from Ft. Worth, if you take TX 377 south, you can drive down to Granbury, there'd be lots of stuff to see there, and I believe Granbury also has a very cute Courthouse square. Granbury's known for it's boutique shopping and eateries in the Square area and along the lake, imo.
