I am getting really tired of shooting at the botanic gardens and water gardens and downtown fort wortg. Granted I always find a new shot every time i'm there I really would like to find some new stomping grounds.

I live in Burleson so anywhere between north fort worth and hillsborough would be greatly appreciated.

:)

Not exactly between Ft. Worth and Hillsboro but an untapped resource for new photography. The Dallas ISD Environmental Education Center and Post Oak Wildlife Preserve in Seagoville (southeast Dallas County).

DISD Environmental Education Center Home Page

It's open to the public. The Preserve is directly across the street. Nature trails and a pond.

What do you like to shoot? Both Cleburne and Hillsboro have interesting buildings to see, and both have really cute Courthouse squares. In Cleburne, along the north end of Lake Pat, on the west shore, there's a Chisolm Trail outdoor museum, I believe that point was a water crossing along the Trail, and it's also the site of the first County seat, before it was moved to Cleburne. If you continue south on TX 174 to Meridian, there's lots of beautiful landscapes along the route, and Meridian is another small town with many opportunities. From there you could take Hwy 6 back up to Hico (where some people believe the real Billy the Kid is buried!) and then TX 220 back to US 67, which will take you back in to Cleburne by way of Glen Rose, OR you can also take TX 144 from Meridian which goes directly to Glen Rose and US 67 (the way through Hico will put you on 67 a little west of Glen Rose.) I haven't lived in Cleburne in 5 years, so a lot may have changed since I was there, but I know they were working on a small botanical garden next to the Wal-mart on Henderson. It's probably done by now. You can also drive by Lake Pat Cleburne, along Lakeshore Dr., City of Cleburne Site.

Also, from Ft. Worth, if you take TX 377 south, you can drive down to Granbury, there'd be lots of stuff to see there, and I believe Granbury also has a very cute Courthouse square. Granbury's known for it's boutique shopping and eateries in the Square area and along the lake, imo. Wikipedia, City of Granbury Official Site, Granburytx.com.

Mineral Wells SP is west of Ft. W, along TX 180, take I-20 west to Weatherford then just stay on 180 until you see the turn off for the state park. Lake Mineral Wells SP - TPWD

The observation park at dfw airport, The Fort Worth Zoo, take the train from fort worth to dallas and ride the light rail, old city park, any number of lakes and parks especially where wildlife roost. Also check out meetup.com there are a number of photogroups that have get togethers and shoot

Katie, I havent been over there recently, but try going to "downtown" Joshua. There were several weatherbeaten buildings in the area that might make interesting shooting backdrops..

Katie, keep in mind that it may be your 37th time at that location, but it is new to your client. We get tired of backgrounds, locations, props, etc way before our clients do. Challenge yourself to find new angles and new poses at the old locations.

+1.

And new ways to light your subjects, and new (as long as they're better) poses, and and and and
