Looking for a rural place to put a car for a senior shoot! - 01-11-2010, 08:04 PM

Hi everyone! I'm trying to find somewhere that I can drive a car up onto the grass for a more rural look with a senior guy and his car. A dirt road would look good too, I'm just trying to avoid paved streets. Any thoughts? Specifically in the Far North Dallas/Plano area. Thanks in advance!

Lindsay,

If you take George Bush out towards 78 (east) on the right hand side there are a couple areas you can pull off (fisherman use it to access Rowlett Creek) with small dirt roads, etc. They will be on the south side (right) as you start to approach the end of Bush.

Better still...

Off of N Glenville (sorta sits between Galatyn and Renner / east of 75) at the Richardson / Plano border you will find a spot where you can pull back into the woods (pull up google maps of east plano and you can see it in the sat imagery). Highly recommend this area for what you want to do.

***Disclaimer***
I make no claim to the legality of entry into either area, though when I was out at the Glenville area last, there were no signs stating no tresspassing, but it has been a year or so.

Hope this helps,

W

I found this place, not sure if it's what you're looking for :

There is a small road (Co Rd 24 I think) that is accessible from Preston just north of Frisco. I have made this google map to show the location.

I've looked at Prairie Creek as my backup, but it's kind of limiting for these purposes since you can't put a car on the grass, the roads are narrow, and you have to hope it's not too crowded. I love it otherwise! :) The trails back behind the creek are a gold mine.

Cool. Just throwing out there as an idea. As for the suggestion out 190 way. Take 190 east to the Brand Road exit. This will get you off the highway before the eastern extension construction. Brand Rd. runs north past Fire Wheel Golf Course. There may be some good opportunities out that way.

On the north side of Fire Wheel Golf Course on Blackburn, there is some room to pull off the side off the road and take pictures by the golf course. I will caution at dusk and dawn because of coyotes.

dmcantrell, its not co rd 24, its co rd 1043.. one road south of 24, took me about 30min to realize where the correct road was...

also, the local municipality was nice enough to put up 3 large signs... 2 bright yellow, and one bright orange... letting us know when the pavement ends, even though i didnt see any pavement? also letting us know that it was a dead end road, and not to forget the road work, even though you have to travel past the one way, dead end road to see the road work sign...

Oh my bad, glad you found it. I was unsure of the road in my post. Your pics are nice.

Thanks for sharing with those of us, how don't know the area yet.....

do you remember what time of the year you took that shot? after looking at my shots compared to yours.. everything looks dead... possibly February/march?

I guess thats the bad thing with north Texas, when the heat starts to hit us, everything goes from green, to brown.... :(

Thanks again for sharing.
