Best Lake around DFW - 07-14-2010, 03:30 PM

I want to take some lake shots and was wondering what would be the best lake to go to? I've mainly grown up around Lewisville Lake and it isn't very pretty at all! So any suggestions would be helpful.

Moss Lake, near Gainesville. Clean water, nice hills surrounding the lake. Beautiful sunsets.

I'll have to check that out. I have a friend that has some land up near Gainesville.

Since these are all man made, for water supplies, they are all pretty much butt ugly. To really find a pretty lake you need to head north west about 400 miles to Colorado.

Lake Murray, OK (approx. 2 hours from DFW) is scenic. It has Tucker Tower, marinas and camping facilities. Below is a link to an article we wrote from a diver's perspective:

Lake Murray, OK page

Lake Murray State Park can be reached from Oklahoma City or Dallas by taking Exit 24 off Interstate 35 and traveling two miles east to the park.
