This is a discussion on Locations in Arlington? within the Dallas/FW Area Photo Locales forums, part of the Dallas / Fort Worth category; I have a family shoot in Arlington next month. Any recommendations on places to shoot? I thought about River Legacy ...

I like Veteran's Park in Arlington. You can get a lot of natural shots...in some spots it can appear that you are in the country. It is off Spanish Trail and Arkansas.

River Legacy Park is pretty. If the family is sports-minded at all, there are two major sports venues right next to each other. There is also a linear park with water features, trails and rock formations almost in the parking lots of those sports venues.

I second Veteran's Park! Did a family there a couple weeks ago in the garden part of it (second entrance). River Legacy is nice too. There is Rose Park in Mansfield if you are further south.

Shelley, check out Bowman Springs Park. I just did a family session there this morning. It is on Lake Arlington and there are lots of shady areas. Water in the background makes for some pretty awesome images. Address is 7003 Poly Webb Road.
Good luck :)
