2011 Bluebonnets locations

Saw my first patch of bluebonnets today on SH 161 (George Bush) between Beltline Rd and Rochelle Bl. Feel free to share your locations below...

Would be interested to see if there are any fields in the DFW metroplex that aren't right off a major highway..

I saw some off 45 just North of Ennis.

last year I photographed at the JCPenny building in Plano...it is a huge field and not off a highway. It is on Legacy between Preston and 121

Legacy seems alot better than on the side of 161 (George Bush)..thanks!

A couple of really nice patches on the north side of 114.

There is a nice patch at Northgate and Rochelle in Irving on the other side of the train track. Not a good place to park, but very quiet. Near 114 and 183.

They wre selling bb in Lowes yesterday. I bought one plant. If I can keep this one alive, I hope to get some growing in my field by my house.

If you are willing to drive a little bit, I was on my way home from Houston and stopped in Corsicanna to photograph the bluebonnets. I parked in a shopping center parking lot at the corner of 45 and maybe 287? It was right in front of the Russell Stover place. TONS and TONS of bluebonnets and those yellow flowers that I don't know what they are.

In East Plano by the Plano Event Center and the nature preserve there is a few hundred

Ok, found two great spots.

1) JcPenny Headquarters near Legacy Dr/between 121 and the Tollway

2) Intersection of La Villita/Las Colinas Bl in Irving.


Both have a LARGE number of bluebonnets.

Great hill covered with bluebonnets on FM 423 just north of Eldorado Parkway in Little Elm. It is an old cemetary and it is at peak this weekend (April 3/4).

Did anyone else get out to this bluebonnet hill just north of El Dorado Parkway in Little Elm this weekend? I was surprised at the larger number of bluebonnets covering the hill.
