ISO - abandoned vintage cars and/or trucks - 04-07-2011, 01:20 PM

I have tried all of the wrecking/salvage yards and no luck. They either allow no photography or wont allow access after dark.

I am looking to do some night shots and light painting shots of some vintage vehicles, preferably pre '60.

If you know of any place like this please let me know. If it is a business, please supply the name so I can call and ask. If it is 1 or more out in a field that has no fence, even better.

I am in the Richardson area and dont really want to drive more than an hour or so one way.

I appreciate any assistance you can give!

Christopher

The only one I know of is the crunched up one in Allen off the trail behind the senior center but I don't think it would be suitable for light painting since you need to move around quickly and it's a little treacherous :| I know I want to shoot at the CTC Auto Ranch up near Denton but they close at 5 PM (I'm sure you checked with them).

I heard there is an old truck somewhere around eagle mountain lake, but I haven't run into it yet (and haven't really been that way since I heard about it).

Yup - close at 5pm, $10 to shoot (not a problem there), no access after close at 5PM.

But that is almost exactly what I am looking for.

Thanks!

No idea what it would take, but this old panel truck off Fishtrap Rd is awesome... probably 1950-1960 vintage and all shot-up. It's just north of 380 off of FM2931.

Steve - that is awesome! Found it on google maps and did a street view to see about fences or barriers and the dirt road that extends east off of fishtrap lane is ungated.

This is on my short list of places to be. Thank you!

Anyone else??

With some creative framing and a super fast lens I had decent luck in Waller and Sealy, but it's probably not the look you are going for.

Oh really? They told me fifty! Ha. Interesting.

Oh by the way, I was thinking and I remember seeing several cool old cars on a large piece of land off Parker just before it turns heads into Wylie. No doubt on private property but if you are game with asking people, it could be a possibility. I don' t remember EXACTLY where it's at, but close to Wylie before it changes names.

I may have gotten this crossed with somewhere else too. I was making a lot of calls that week about this and this was maybe 3 months ago.

I would prefer to have permission, but if the cars are in a field with an 'easy to cross fence' and no indication about tresspassing I am good for that too.

Google maps/earth is your friend! I will look this place up! Thanks!
