What are some good places to see fall colors in the D/FW area? Anyone seen any popping up yet or is it too soon?

That can be a challenge to find. It mostly goes from green to brown to gone. haha When I moved down here from Chicago, I was shocked at the lack of fall colors in North Texas.

I think a lot depends if we have a fairly wet summer which we almost never do.

We have a great fall season here in Ft. Worth. Last year it was from 2:30-4:30pm on October 28th.

For Fall color in the Metroplex I usually visit the Kimbell or the Dallas Museum of Art.....

The nearest thing to Fall Colors in North Texas is called Arkansas!

But, actually, there were a few areas of some pretty decent color in the hills north of Decatur along 51 early last December. No guarantees for this year though...!

FM 314 to FM 315 into Palestine - for the best fall colors, take the Texas State Railroad from Palestine to Rusk - not anything like New England, but it's ours

The trees do change color here, but it doesn't last very long. The oak tree in my front yard goes from green, to not-as-green, to red, to not-as-red to brown and then nothing. It happens in 20 minutes, but it sure is pretty!

There is a park in Plano off of Midway and Parker Rd (just west of Plano Presby Hospital) called Arbor Hills. They usually have some really pretty foliage this time of year.
Here is a google maps link (hopefully it works) http://maps.google.com/maps?client=f...19312&t=h&z=16

I'm New To the Dallas area so please don't laugh too hard if my suggestion is "way off the mark"; but, with that said...my sister in law has informed me that the Dallas Arboretum would be a good place to take photos - just thought I'd share what little information I have :-) http://www.dallasarboretum.org/

So what we really need are some parks with lots of MAPLE trees - they are deciduous (sp?) and will definitely change color. Anyone???

I was wondering how the Fort Worth Botanical looks in the Fall? I've only been in the summer but I notice this weekend is the Fall festival in the Japanese gardens?
