Grapevine Lake Sunset - 04-08-2009, 09:14 AM

Hi there,

I have a family that is interested in some pics at Grapevine Lake in the evening before sunset with their dog. Does anyone have any nice locations with maybe some rocks that are easily accessible?

I will go scout out the location before hand, but I wondered if someone knew of a good place to start from.

Thanks!

Try Rockledge Park just off the north end of the dam (Fairway Rd is the "dam road")- there are rocky areas there that might be what you're looking for.

There is also a mountain bike trail that heads out from this area that might make for a nice backdrop.

I just wanted to say that this location worked out great. They do charge a $5 fee (x2 if you go scout it first).

Here are a few from my shoot this weekend. The sun was pretty bright, and then wind was about 20 MPH, but we found some shaded, less windy spots...

Sorry for the over-abundance of pics, but I wanted to give a good idea about what was there for anyone else looking for something similar.

Glad it worked out for you. The second to last picture is my favorite. Bummer on the fee, though. There's another thread somewhere here discussing that user fee.

Yea, that last one is my favorite. I think they are going to get a slightly different one that is vertical up-close as their main family portrait.

The fee is annoying, but I figure it isn't nearly as bad as some of the other places charging $75 an hour and up. It bothers me more that if I want to go catch a sunset or something that I have to pay to be there for 10 minutes.
