Do you have to a permit to do a couple of head shots there with one of my agents? I know you do for the canal area. But do you for the mustang area, nothing fancy? I just thought I would ask before we went down and I told her straight up that we may get in trouble but I just wanted to warn you ahead of time. Just thought I would ask you guys here to see what you thought. She is a member at the Hackberry Creek Country Club so that's where we are originally going to go. I told her to call and just double check to make sure it was fine since she lives at Hackberry and is a member they should be fine with some outside shots. It would be nice just to be able to go ya know but to many people have rules any more.

according to the district maphttp://www.dcurd.com/ the mustangs (williams square) are in the "district". i would assume you officially have to have a permit for "professional photography". however i don't think i've ever seen any "photography police" around the mustangs (i live and work in las colinas, and up until february worked in williams square).

but i would call them if you have questions:

Was down there a couple of weeks ago and a guard approached a girl that had a camera on tripod. Ask if it was a commercial shoot and she said she was doing it for a photography class. He said OK as long as she understands she can't sell the pictures. He walked asway and she kept shooting. It was not big deal.

Yep. Just depends on what your purpose is. Headshots, bridals, engagements, etc.. would be commercial I would assume. Then again, many people are shooting for prices I would consider free or actually costing the photog money...so... perhaps the city of Irving should actually pay the photographer for shooting there. Heck, I'd say that most of the visitors to that area are there taking pics. Without them, that place would be even more dead than it already is... :) j/king (sorta)

I live right next door to Williams Square ... I've shot my wife there, no troubles. But, technically you are suppose to have a permit for professional shoots ... says so on the signs to the left and right of the entrance of the square.

BTW, if anyone is looking for someone to go shooting with around the area ... I'm game, just send me a PM/email. I'm getting a little bored shooting by myself all the time (architecture/abstract/anything interesting really).
