Fort Worth: Alliance Air Show - 10-20-2009, 10:26 PM

I was thinking of going out Friday to watch the Blue Angels practice show. Anyone know if there's a good spot behind (West of) the airport? By the time the Blue Angels fly, the sun is pretty brutal.

I went a couple of years ago for the practice and was able to pull right up to the tower and park (free) along with several other people with cameras.

Thanks. I wasn't sure that area would be open Friday. I may stay there a while early, then try to go to the other side of the airport to get some better angles for the practice show.

The west side of the airport is pretty well closed down during practice and the shows. If you find someplace close give me a call at 682-465-0358.

I was thinking about going out there Saturday but I would have to leave by 2pm.
Is it worth going for half a day?

well. . .maybe. The only bad thing about Alliance is that the show line faces west (into the sun). And by 3pm it is kind of harsh. Plus there will be a huge crowd there I am sure.

I meant I would have to leave the show by 2pm. I would get there around 9:30 - 10am

Well, I am probably wrong, but I would guess that they practice around the same time of the day that their performance is set to go on the show days. (So the lighting will be the same since they use landmarks as guides for their routines.)

Past experience would suggest that you check out the area for the signs saying what time FM 156 and the roads around the field will be closed, and that will be their practice time.

I may go out too. Not sure yet!

It is probably worth it, but you will likely miss the Angels. They are usually about the end of the show.

I sometimes leave before the Angels in order to beat the traffic mess when their show is over, and watch them from a distant place..

11:00am until about 3:00 pm.
"British Emporium" on N. Main.
This is North of NW Hwy on Main St. Across from the new Bank of Texas that is on that corner where Elliott's Hardware used to be.
Alex and Sheela usually have a real nice turnout of Brit Cars and Bikes in their parking lot.
