Several people at GETdpi have and here is a discussion on it and comparisons to other films.

Hurry up! Tell us all about it. It's fantastic in 120. Reason enough to own a camera that uses 120 film.

Just do it!

Done!!!

Just came back from the camera exchange with two rolls of ektar 35mm.

I will be loading this in the Mamiya ZM tonight, its my favorite 35mm SLR. It was my first and will probobly be my last. Its the camera that will go in the grave with me.

OK, 35mm will do for now.

Get some 120 and a camera to use it.

NOW!

crackhead: Good job!

Waiting for the roll to return using the same combo.

Grinning. I just found out what the 2 notches on the left edge of the film do.

I gotta say that I'm seeing slower turnaround times from Walmart/Fuji these days. It used to be around 10 days if I was lucky... now it's closer to 3 weeks.

I've got my first roll loaded in my Nikon F2 right now. Still got a couple dozen exposures left to go. I'll let y'all know how mine come out, but I'm really looking forward to it.

According to reviews I've read, for the one question that everyone seems to be asking, namely is Ektar good enough to replace slides,
the answer seems to be "in some cases." I'm looking forward to seeing how the Ektar negs scan on my Epson 4990.

Hey Wayne, who are you using for having your 120 developed?

I have a 5 pack in 120 sitting in the fridge...

I just need a pretty woman to be in front of the camera ;-)

I drop it in the box at Walmart. Who does what to it is beyond my control.

It will be 2 weeks Monday. I think the box is tended on Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday. I'll go by after work on Tuesday and check.

Scott, beg if you have to. We're waiting.

Ektar is quite saturated, but the colors aren't nearly as vibrant as a good slide film. The colors often look pastel.

Also it doesn't match the clean grainless look of slides.

Cool Ektar 100 Update - 09-25-2009, 08:12 AM

Lisa had me out until way late last night. I'm not ready for show and tell.

However, some interesting news........

1. I had several rolls of 120 & 220 C-41 film processed at Walmart in June-July. $0.84/roll for either length roll. Cool.
2. I left film at Sam's Club after Labor Day. It is more convenient for me than Walmart. Good news: I picked up the roll of Ektar 100 yesterday. Develop only. $0.46/roll. WOW! Bad news: The other roll I left at the same time wasn't there. I hope it's not lost.
3. Early results from the scanner: Candy Apple Red '32 Deuce Coupe is RED! Grain? Where? What grain? I dare say this film could be enlarged to cover a building without even straining. Where are those folks who did the film vs. digital test on the telly in London? 120 Ektar 100 would wipe the floor with 35mm digital. Zeiss optics are frigging amazing!
4. I can't get the cool film edge in my scans. Working on it.

Stand by.
