Things may break after the first of the year where I can get an M9 and an 8x10.
I suspect the 8x10 will not have a tripod (if I get lucky it might be new).
I'm considering a Berlebach 3042 with a leveling center column. With that do I need a tripod head? I know it would not be a ballhead, so what and whos?
Dark Cloth, any suggestions? I've seen on LFP some mention of white over black to reduce heat.
I think I have a good handle on loupe, film holders, lens boards, lens and light meters and developing stuff.
What else should I consider?

I'm not sure what the leveling column would really get you unless it has enough play that you could do without a head. I wouldn't recommend a ballhead for 8x10, I think you'd want a geared head like the Manfrotto 405, then you could probably skip the leveling column.

I'll look into that Manfrotto.

For Dark cloth, I like the BTZS as it has the elastic which holds onto the camera, velco for opening the long side, and it is white outside with a black interior. Still is warm inside.
For my 4x5, the ballhead is kinda of a pain to me as I always forget to adjust the drag (RRS BH-55). For a larger format, I'd go with the 3 way pan tilt head like a Bogen 3039. This is really personal preference as some people like the ball heads and some don't.

Stovall,
I am by far an expert. I have this dark cloth.
It has Velcro and elastic. The thing I like is that its waterproof. It can be thrown over the camera to protect it if need be.
I avoided the hoods. Not sure how well they would work in our heat.

A changing tent should be also considered. The Harrison is not cheap at 240 clams for 8x10 but I love my pup tent.

I have just started with LF.
My BTZS hood works great but I have never tried it in hot weather. (I usually spend the warmer seasons in the dark room any way.)
One this I would recomment is some type of bag/case to schlep all this stuff around.

Start watching the for sale listings at the large format photography forum. A Zone VI Junior would be a minimum for 8x10. One came and went a few weeks ago. A Reis head will work nicely. Search the large format forum for tripod and head information.
A jogging stroller to haul it all around.
Everything you need for 8x10 is currently for sale or will be for sale in the next 90 days. Any other format for that matter.
Harrison Changing Tent. Buy one. Don't leave home without it.

David | I purchased a large changing bag which seems to work OK and is MUCH cheaper than a tent. I may try to build a wire frame to put in my changing bag to effect a tent.

For 4x5ish sizes, Calumet has a changing box for 70 clams that is nice, folds flat and has no poles. http://www.calumetphoto.com/1/1/1567...m-calumet.html

Y'all can use bags if you like. The Harrison tents rock! Best built gear out there. Easily built as well as any European cameras or lenses. The dust reduction alone makes the tents worth their weight in gold. Try loading a Jobo Expert or 2553 drum in a bag.
John, what are your thoughts on a lens for 8x10? The Commercial Ektars in 12" or 14" are big but nice. The Fujinon 250mm f/6.7 (not the newer 250mm f/6.3 multicoated lens that I have) has a big image circle and outstanding optical qualities. The Fujinon A 240mm f/9.0 is tiny and covers 8x10 with room to spare. Sharp enough to make your eyes bleed. And small enough to fit in a pocket.

Been leaning to the Goerz lenses but still researching options...
