Personally, I would just have walmart develop it and then find someone to scan the couple images I actually wanted to print/publish...

I had no idea that walmart stopped developing film. I guess digital cameras accounted for the majority of their prints?

One more time:
Go to Walmart/Sam's Club
Find the film drop box and envelopes
Fill out the top part with name, etc. Include a daytime phone number & they will call when ready. The stores I use are good about this.
In the special instructions write:
Film size/type. Example: 120 C-41 or 220 E-6 or 35mm B&W.
Sleeve
No Prints (or the size prints if you want them)
Place film in envelope & seal
Drop film in box.
Leave. Do not talk to staff. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200
Collect film in 2 weeks from the next pickup day. Pickup on the NW side of Houston is Tues-Thurs-Sat.
Good luck.

Wayne,
What's a standard print size for 120 negatives? I just ordered a holga and I think for the first few rolls I'll want to get prints made (I currently don't have a film scanner). Thanks oh guru of analog.

Hey, does anyone know the procedure for leaving print film at Wal Mart?
The 12 year old at the photo desk doesn't speak English and couldn't get my canister into the scanner.
p.s. have you ever requested them to send back the spool after development?
try it and you'll get special attention from the supervisor.

Thanks oh guru of analog. | Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........the negatives are square. The machines are rectangular. I think. It's been a hundred years since I drove one. Ask for 4x6. You might get 4x4. I'm going to ask for 5x7 one of these days when I'm fairly confident of the results.
Ask crakhead. He said he had prints made from his Hasselblad. That's just like a Holga!!!!!!!!!!

Holga should be a mix, I think some come with kit frames for 6x6 or 6x4.5 that you can switch out.
This week, is a good week. Started the week on a Wednesday.
My 10Lbs. box of used gear for the kids comes in from KEH tomorrow (i.e. Friday, because UPS delivers to us after 3 and we get out at 2:30). Also, this is the first time since the top of October that we've had all of our cameras back in our lockup, even though it took some calls from the sheriff's office to the parents. We're only missing one unit, and it's an older body.
Adviser let me know that we "NEED" to order film and darkroom supplies from Freestyle because we're starting shadowgrams soon (hopefully before Xmas), and we might as well order the film at the same time. (Film, for 90 kids...) Got the clearance to go completely odorless chemi this year, THANK GOODNESS. That also means some 120 film, sleeves, some 16x24 paper (I'm thinking Ilford, matte or pearl).
Found a 135 and 120 Beseler negtrans in a closet, along with a 120 holder for our 67's. (The 120 negtrans needs a new rubber band but we'll make do).
Jerry-rigged my Kiev to shoot 35mm on the sprocket holes. Dunked it today, looks pretty cool, trying another roll tomorrow.

The Kiev should be a close swap with the Hasselblad. Looks like a road trip to/near Clear Lake some weekend. If my schedule ever frees up.

Go ahead and read this link first, it's where I started off with. Because of the design of the Hassy/Kiev film cassette, I cut off a bit of a 120 reel that fills the gap between the bottom of the chamber and a 135 roll. Then the top sprocket that usually springs down onto the 120 reel fits into the hole of the 135 roll.
That worked until I lost the little 120 reel part that I cut. At this point I can tape it in with gaffer's tape, and tape the leader end into the receiving reel. Unloading has to be done in a changing bag, and it helps to have an old camera so you can crank the film back into the roll.
I haven't had any time to take a good look at the negatives, but there doesn't seem to be too bad of a gap as far as planes go that cause a focus difference.
Put in my freestyle order today. 250 sheets of Pearl 8x10 (Arista, of course). Some Ilford 16x20, Arista paper chemistry. 15 rolls of 120 BW (Arista 400 and HP5+) and 5 rolls of the new Ektar to see what all the fuss is about.

Thanks for the link and explanation. Ideally, a dedicated back for 35mm seems like the way to go because of the unloading. I hadn't thought that far ahead.

I bet two springs would do the trick, equally spaced so it runs across the middle. Currently I have two thin strips of scotch tape on the focus screen to mark off the rough boundaries. I just realized that I can't really print it as far as darkroom, need to work on getting a proper scanner.
I forgot to pull the 4x5 out of the fridge today as I was leaving. But the oldest exp. date was 1986, latest was 97.

Sounds like a plan for a project: Grumpy OLD man uses OLD film. A 4x5 pinhole project even. That will show the Holga folks!

Here's the latest update:
Dropped off a roll of Ektar and Reala, they came back!! Looks alot like Dwayne's work (as spec'd, uncut and sleeved negs - delivered in the same red cardboard tube). Haven't gotten a chance to scan (have to wait until school starts).
Oh wait, forgot the best part: $00.48 EACH!!!!
Paid about a buck, and was out of there. Go to the kiosk, fill out the envelope form and write what you'd like in the special info box, drop in slot, walk away. Come back a few weeks later. Retrieve. Pay. Leave. From what I could tell, the Sam's on El Dorado is doing 135 with their Fuji minilab, only because it looked like something had punctured the "CN-16" tank-in-cardboard boxes and there was a half used 30-pack of the quicker picker upper soaking what smelled of fix all over the place.
