got some rodinal and powdered chemicals tonight. what's their shelf life?

powder is dry and doesn't seem like it has ever been wet. rodinal bottle is brand new (i guess never been opened better describes it).

thoughts?

Waste a roll and find out.

Personally, I rarely mess with stuff thats "unknown".

Film and chemistry are way cheaper than time to me.

They are also two of the cheaper things in the whole process.

What label is on the Rodinal? An Agfa or A&O label? What would you like in trade for the Rodinal? Perfectly good 1 gallon bags of D-76?

we have 1 gallon bags of d-76 also. i think like 3 of them.

i think i am going to try the rodinal out. if i don't like it, i'll pass it on to you. it's the agfa label. seems like i can branch out a lot more than with the diafine in terms of pushing film and what not?

this guy had everything. i was really there for the enlarger. talked him down on that and told him i didn't want the rest of the crap. well, everything ended up in my car.

tanks, a couple of 120 reels, about 7 35mm reels, a paterson tank and i think there are a couple more goodies in there for valerie when she comes to get everything (35mm film loader if that's your thing). it's been a good couple of weeks with aquiring darkroom crap. i'm done for the time being, dayna says no more. except maybe a 645 negative carrier for the 23c. we'll see how the 66 carrier works with the 645 negatives.

i think we are going to break in the enlarger friday night. that's my idea of a good date with my wife. that and going to the grocery store on saturdays to get free food samples.

I was always told that powder had a much much longer life expectancy over liquid since oxidation occurs slower. I used some Ilford P30P powder in the print room without too much issue, but Ilford liquid is significantly slower since the batch mix (stored in original container).

Conor & Daniel,

Trade bait:

1 liter Ilford Microphen x 3 (The SPEED developer)
1 quart Microdol-X x 2
1 gallon D-19 x 2
1 gallon D-76 x 8 or 9

You scored a 23C? Awesome!

Storing food in a refrigerator is a monumental waste of good film storgae space.

i agree but dayna doesn't. i may have to watch craigs for one of those small dorm fridges and stock it full of film.

i'm uber excited to use the 23c. it's clean!! the glass is so-so beslar. we'll use what we have for now and upgrade later... everything looked to be working and the guy gave us some paper. we'll see friday.

Conor, I have a box full of scrap enlarger lenses, a couple of Nikkor 50/2.8 or 50/4 if you view that as an improvement. Want one?

Wayne, you lost me a little bit. Wha?
