they are more or less deliver/take out, which isn't a problem for us since we like 3/4 of a mile from one. what would be interesting is if you could get them to deliver to the weeping angel in glenwood....?

but yes, i like pink's better than star.

Thanks, Lee. At least the numbers are making sense in that regard.

Now for another question -- what is the advantage, if any, to using a 1:1 formulation? I note from Kodak's data sheet on D76 where it states:

"For greater sharpness, but with a slight increase in graininess, you can use a 1:1 dilution of this developer."

Do you prefer the increase in sharpness at the expense of increased grain, and is either significant enough to be concerned about one way or the other?

The Pink's on W. Gray looks like it is closest to Glenwood. Filed away.

Been reading through these threads with interest as I've got a roll of HP5+ in my film body and I'd like to give this whole processing thing a shot myself. I've seen several mentions of using flip-top beer bottles to hold the chemicals. Since I brew my own beer, they're (the bottles) pretty well-known to me. If you're in a pinch and don't have time (or for whatever reason don't drink beer) you can go down to DeFalco's on Stella Link (for you Houstonians) and buy the bottles brand new. If the flip-tops work, it'd stand to reason if you wanted a large container of similar build so would a 2L Growler. 1gal glass carboys are also quite inexpensive, and at least you won't have to worry about the (minimal) risk of oxygen permeability found in plastics (even the food-grade ones permeate at some level).

Awesome! Thanks Anthony (altho I must say, emptying those bottles is part of the fun!!)

No problem at all. Believe me, I understand about emptying the bottles. How do you think I grew my collection of 12oz bottles so large, so fast!? Real Ale, and lots of it!! Of course then I discovered that cleaning, sanitizing, filling, capping, and storing 54 bottles every time I finished fermenting a batch of beer was a huge pain in the backside and I started kegging instead!

I've read all of the related threads, but I'm sure I'll still have some "make sure I'm not insane" questions before I pop open my first roll of film.

Excellent, I'll do that for sure. Right now I'm leaning pretty hard toward just developing and then using my friend's film scanner (V700, I believe) to digitize the negatives. Perhaps at some point I'll mess with photographic paper as well.

Hope you can make it. Be warned: You may leave with a yearning for larger format gear.
