Expired slide film (8-2005)

How should I expose this? Give it a little more exposure? Will I get weird color shifts? The film is E100GX and I'd rather not crossprocess it.

How was it stored? The extent of my experimenting was a roll of Arista expired in 2001, and I got a weird magenta shift that was easy to correct after scanning. (stored at room temp).

Hi John,

I've shot a lot of largeformat transparency film that was of similar age. It was stored well (frozen) and came out fine. In a side by side comparison with fresh film in some cases I could se that the Dmax (darkest unexposed areas out of the image area) was not quite as dense in the older film. This is analogous to the fogging of of expired B&W film. The slower the film the less this should be a problem. If it does have a slight color shift and you have enough of it to run tests you can always compensate with cc (color compensating) filters.

If you have multiple rolls all stored under the same condition shoot one and process it normally as a test roll, be sure to try a range of lighting conditions and colors shot.

I am shooting expired color C-41 and E-6 film some of which is more than 8 years past expiration and I am shooting it at rated speed and getting great results. I know, however, that it was stored frozen. But if you have no such assurance, Paul's suggestion is good.

I exposed this as normal - developed as normal, I keep it under my sink.
