I develop my Plus-X in TMAX 1:4 for 7 3/4 minutes and in HC-110B for 5 minutes without issues - then again Wayne doesn't think I develop anything "normally". | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

A company out of Los Angeles used to have a developing chart on their web site and catalog. They have a lot in the B&W line. Lots of usefule info on their site. Freestyle Photographic Supplies - Traditional Black & White Film, Paper, Chemicals, Holgas and ULF

Good work. I love Plus-X. Follow the Freestyle link above and load up on Arista Premium 100 film. It is real Kodak Plus-X. Follow the same data for developing as Plus-X.
How did you develop the Plus-X film above?
David, it's color film that goes astray in your hands.
I still prefer developing times in the 10-12 minute range. Sometimes 8 minutes.

This is the way i developed this film.
ilfosol 3 1:9
ilfstop 1:19
rapid fixer 1:4
the developing time was 5:15 minutes. For the first ten seconds i agitated gently and repeat the same process every minute for the next 5 minutes then pour out the developer. Next i went ahead and poured in the stopbath for about 10 seconds. After that i poured it out and put in the fixer for 5 minutes and i agitated the can every minute for 10 seconds and at the end i washed the film for 10 minutes at 68 degrees ferinheight. Which all my chemicals were at 68 degrees throughout the whole process.
i don't know if this is right or wrong but i think it came out good. Like i mentioned before i'm new at this so i will need so help from yall later on. Once again thanks everybody for helping out.

The problem with short developing times is that any error in developing will be magnified. The other times for stop and fix are not critical.
On the other hand, your photos look nice.

OK, some color film. Grinning.
The reason for longer development time: Say your normal time is 10 minutes. When you need to overexpose & underdevelop to reduce contrast you have somewhere to go. If your normal time is 5 minutes & you need to shorten development time you have nowhere to go.
Clear as mud?
