saw this on RFF:
"good news from Kodak: In an interview at Inside Analog Photo Scott DiSabato, manager for professional film at Kodak, said that Kodak will introduce a new film in the next weeks.
I assume it will be either Ektar 400 or an improved version of Portra 160 NC / VC (NC-3, VC-3), because at 400 speed we have already the NC-3, VC-3 version (introduced in 2008).
I guess the "vision 3 " technology which was implemented in Ektar 100 will now be implemented in other films, too.
We will see the next weeks."

The folks at RFF are going nuts as usual. A lot of Kodak bashing. Speculation. Theory. We shall see.
Would it be too much to hope for a Tmax 3200 replacement with Tmax 400 grain? Ektar 800?

If they were to make Ektar 400, where would that fit in with Portra NC & VC. It seems too crowded.
I think where Kodak lacks the most is in high speed film. Fuji has a quality 1600 color and a much better 800 film. I also like Neopan 1600. | | | |

I buy a digital camera and this happens: Quote:
Kodak has just announced the upcoming launch of Kodak Ektar 100 - the world’s finest-grained colour negative film emulsion available today - in 4x5” and 8x10” sheet formats. Since its introduction in September 2008, the Ektar 100 family of films has won numerous industry awards, including the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) award (2009), Professional Photographers’ Hot One Award (2009, 2010) and American Photo Editor’s Choice Award (2009). “Large-format photographers, such as landscape and fine-art photographers, will love the impact and flexibility that Ekatr 100 brings. It’s the ideal choice for creating high magnification enlargements for commercial display, while preserving even the finest detail,” said Lars Fiedler, Marketing Manager Film Capture. “Introducing EKTAR 100 Film in 4x5 and 8x10 further continues our commitment to providing photographers with high quality, relevant films that support a broad segment of the market.” The new Kodak Ektar Film in 4x5 and 8x10 sheets formats will be available worldwide beginning in April 2010.

who knows if they'll come out with a 1600 speed color neg film? IMO that particular niche has really been taken over by the DSLRs in recent years.
Right now, my go-to for high speed film is Provia 400X pushed two stops. Not sure if any color neg film can match it. Too bad it's so pricey

4x5 Ektar 100. Sweet. 8x10 Ektar 100. Very tempting.
