Congrats! I did it way back in high school and started again in January.
I find I use a lot more black & white film. I tend to use 120 film more though.

I already have wayne. I already have.
My AE-1 is now my main shooter. Any thoughts on a good upgrade? Is the A-1 an upgrade or should I stick with what I have.

I'm very partial to my Canon EF.
Having started with the the worst developer ever and moving up a notch to Diafine, someday you may work your way up to Xtol and Rodinal. You could score some Microdol-X at the Co-op before it's all gone.

Well im excited to try diafine. The idea of it not being a picky developer intrigues me.
Im loving shooting with my AE-1. Im selling the D40 and shelving the D3000.
Film makes me slow down, and I like that.

There were several iterations. All metal. Well made. What's not to like? Have you been to Canon Camera History Mecca? Canon camera's history - The Old logo of Canon
Nikon history at the same place.
ps: If you don't have the Canon 50/1.4 S.S.C., GET ONE! Or better still, the late 50/1.2 Aspherical that even Erwin Putts said was better than the Leitz 50/1.2 Noctilux of the same vintage. Take that, Stovall!

Your thoughts? | | | |

Your thoughts? | I have a stash of mercury batteries so I'm ok. Not too sure what the problems would be with that body. If you can find the silver batteries that deliver 1.3 or 1.4 volts, they are supposed to work. Wein cells worked fine in my Gossen Luna-Pro. The EF is the only camera ever made that has an internal voltage regulator. It handles the silver batteries just fine. #675 zinc-air hearing aid batteries will work if you figure out a spacer solution. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE ALKALINE BATTERIES. They don't work. You won't know they aren't working until you process your horribly wrong exposure negatives.
