Haven't Holgas been around since forever?
By the way, Lee & I had an impromptu film crawl sunday in a far off exotic foreign locale. Beware: Lee brings intoxicants.

The Holga kids I know usually want to upgrade after seeing what a technically-accurate MF camera can do (heck even seeings the negs from my Kiev inspired one to sell his Holga for an AE-1 and a bag full of expired Arista BW).

I say anything that consumes film correctly can be good. While many prefer expried stuff for color-trippyness, it shows that there is a wanting in general beyond the... uh... crowd who lived during the "practical" lifetime of film.

Film is not nearly as fragile as the O.C.D. blessed among us would have us believe.

Well there was the Diana before that and despite the Holga's nearly 30 year history, it didn't really gain popularity in the hispter crowd until the last several years.

I reckon digital has a lot to do with the rebirth of the Holga.

Great! Pick one up for me. I need a companion for the Shur-Shot and the converted Polaroid, but even the Speedexes on eBay seem to be over $50...sometimes well over if they're in good shape.

Open auctions that start at low bids don't go for that much. Working Nettars went for $20.50 and $16.50. The Ansco Speedex went for $31 and $24.

I bet Lomo users quit soon after the new wears off. They also probably don't know nor care what kind of film they use. However, every little bit helps.

Basically...Once the fad dies they'll be on the next "hip" thing.

I contemplated buying a 4x5.... But hesitated because i was clearly out of my league. Couldnt figure out what to get after getting basically a bellows and rails and already being over budget.

Wes sold a working 4x5 with lens for $150? Something like that. No beauty queen, but it worked.
