Question What is it? - 09-13-2010, 08:20 PM

Can anyone tell me what kind of camera and tripod this is? Someone has offered to give it to me, and I thought it would at least be a cool studio prop, but I haven't a clue what it is. I'm assuming its some kind of large format view camera.

No clue. But the tripod & head are begging for a big camera. It looks like one of the few tripod heads that could rotate a big camera that didn't have a rotating back. Like 7x17 or 12x20. By all means get the tripod. Then pass it on to one of us who use big cameras.
I volunteer!

I dont know. These were all he gave me. He said that I could have it for the cost of postage if I wanted it. I just don't know how much it would cost to ship it from Houston to Dallas, or what I would do with it.

I'm in Houston. I'm leaving today for 2 weeks. I could investigate when I get back.

They were used to shoot the nuclear weapons tests at the Trinity site and will continue to be dangerously radioactive for another billion years.

OK, not really, but a good conversation piece none the less. Good luck; can't wait to see if anybody knows.
