$30 Craigslist Camera - 09-15-2010, 06:07 PM

Did I hear "go big or go home"?

an E. & H. T. Anthony View Camera. I believe this to be the Climax Imperial Studio Model, from Late 1880's to 1903 manufacture. Some of the wood is stamped "99". I guess either a serial or date.

It will need a bit of work.
The wood frame, does have show its age in the joinery. However each section still seems sturdy. The bellows can me made lighttight with a good bit of "liquid tape".

There is a cross member missing on the bottom. And no film holder.
The opening in the rear is 10x10

It has a semi-operative Conley shutter. I doubt I will worry about it. A new lens board needs to be made.

I will post two pictures, and invite readers to click on all the rest on my smugmug site.

all smugmug pics of the camera:

Screw the liquid tape. Put it in a glass box and put it on the mantle!

No. I'm saying to put it on the mantle to admire it! Antiques are never worth their potential when people put home fixes on them.

Something like that. Or get the model with an EVF.

Very cool. These old things are great. About 40 years ago my Dad brought home an old horizontal enlarger that his employer (The Louisville Courier Journal) was throwing out. A monster, it was used to print this, the most famous picture in horse racing.
