As everyone is trying to point out, the whole point of personal testing is to account for all the variables in your hardware, habits, methods, etc. It wil be a few weeks, like 3 before I'm free on a weekend, but I could meet you and Conor and let you all check your meters against my M5 and Luna-Pro sbc. I promise you those two meters are dead on Kodachrome accurate. B and W is simple.

Heck. Check your meters against your Nikons. If your spot meters are only close by a stop, that isn't close.

According to Richard Ritter who was there, the Zone VI modified spot meters probably won't match another meter. The response curve of the meter was altered to match the response curve of black & white film.

i remember reading something odd about them...

since i use diafine, i usually push a bit, and use the meter. seems to work well for both my TLR and bronica.

still haven't heard from the op...still need to replace the batteries. I was hoping this would push me to go get some.

Which reminds me...we can throw my Weston Master V into the mix. Batteries not required.
All of above is somewhat moot. Hand a meter to 10 folks. Ask them to meter a scene. You might get 10 different answers. And 10 well exposed negatives. Thus the need for personal testing. Go figure.

Hey Ted:
I've got a meter. It has never been calibrated but I like the exposures I am getting with it. I'll be glad to get togeather with ya for a comparison.

Which is interesting because different black and white films have different spectral responses. But, that being said, I would still avoid the blue sky test. Stick with a neutral target. I tape a grey card in the open shade of my porch every once in a while and check my spot meter, regular meter and camera meters against each other.

I would offer up my meters for a test but it seems you have plenty of offers closer to home.
