What would happen if?

You used night vision in the darkroom when you're developing film. I was just curious if non-visable light spectrum's would effect the film. I haven't developed my own film in years, but will be starting back up again soon. Thought the NVG's might help eliminate some fumble finger problems.

There is a thread or two about this on either the large format forum or apug. The take home message is that some large format photographers use them instead of the traditional dark green safelight to develop by inspection. So they do work for regular film. Not sure about IR film.

Ken Lee is a big supporter of night vision hardware in the darkroom. For the reason Hank mentions: development of film by inspection.

My sister-in-law gave me a 4x5 monorail rig she used in college and what developing gear she had left. For the cost of a cable release, film, and chemicals; how could I not give it a whirl again.
