A light meter would probably help, but my SWAGs were fairly accurate. The scanner seems to be acceptably reproducing the colors I see when I hold the strips up to the light. This stuff is 10 years old too!

This film expired (I assume that's what the date on the box means, anyway) in 2001. A decade ago. It still looks pretty awesome. Since I do not have E-6 chemistry, I took this to AZ Photo Lab and had them develop the film for me. An $11 well spent, I think.

Each scan is straight off of my Canoscan 8800F. No curve adjustments, no levels, nothing - saved as TIFF from the scanner software, exported to smaller JPEGs by Lightroom 3 after I added metadata. I'll just post the whole roll, since my Pentax 67 gets 10 frames to a roll of 120 film. Not everything is great, but I really like a few of them.

From the start: my first color slide frame ever. Not quite as saturated as I'd hoped, but it's overexposed about a stop and a quarter.

Slide film is a little more finicky about exposure.

You need to shoot it about 1/3 stop under.

Overexposure is no good.

So I see. I may invest in a light meter at some point. Never used one before though. Surely the instructions are at least semi-logical.

How sweet it is, a motorcycle ride and a camera with Velvia 50, nice combo. I am holding my Velvia 50 for the bluebonnets and some of the backroads north of Brenham. I need to get the Bronica out and put a couple of rolls through it.

Indeed. It did get a bit windy out, but the FJR handles it very well. My camera bag fits quite nicely in my topcase. A match made in heaven, really.

A good incident meter has worked best for me with slide film. Velvia 50 seems to work better for me at ASA 40.

nice. i've been sitting on some velvia for over a year. a couple rolls were shot at the wave, i would like to see those. exposure may be off, as i have pentax spotmeter zone VI.

time will tell...what's the cost for a roll at AZ?
