Why? Meters are: Plentiful. Cheap. Reliable. Consistant. Sturdy. Bulletproof. Come in various sizes. Meter various light sources.
The last time it snowed at home I found myself surrounded by overcast skies and fresh snow and Fuji NPH 400/220 and the big Pentax fresh from the Pentax Doctor and no meter. I am very much spoiled by near constant meter accessibility. I missed guesstimating the "Cloudy & overcast & snow & f/5.6 Rule." by a couple stops. I now have backup meters scattered all over Texas. Just in case.

I'll have to try that. Scanning has been a thorn in my side for some time.
