Glass Plates: Kodak Orthoplate PFO用rocessing info? - 04-14-2011, 09:14 AM

These are pre-coated glass plates from Kodak: "Orthoplate PFO". I have an oppertunity to get a few dozen 8x10 plates in factory sealed boxes from what might have been the last production in 2009.

Does anyone have any tech info on developing these plates?

Kodak is no help? They always have great technical info. on everything ever made.

GOOGLE turned up a few interesting words. Apparently, the emulsion is Kodalith. That is a high contrast emusion. Slow. From Kodak, with tungsten light:
Quote:
Use EI 25 when processing in KODAK Developer D-11 and EI 8 when processing in KODALITH Developer.
It might be interesting from a purely experimental point of view. It sure isn't Plus-X. But then nothing else is Plus-X. And Plus-X is gone. Bummer.
I would also wonder about holders for the plates. A regular film holder probably won't work.
How did you plan to use them? Contact prints of film negatives perhaps?
