Hi. I'm Kenny and I live in College Station. (I'm not an Aggie but they do sign my paychecks.)
Recently started shooting film and have fallen in love with slide film. Problem is, the Ritz Camera store here has to send them off for developing and it's two weeks. I'm not pleased with that and I'm hoping someone can give me some ideas about better turnaround. Haven't checked Walmart yet.
Thanks in advance.

I live in College Station and have always sent my E6 off to a lab in Phoenix. But I just looked them up and it seems they closed for good last month. Another one bites the dust. There are others out there that accept E6 by mail and have a one day turnaround once they get it. The prices are usually reasonable but you have to pay shipping each way.

Thanks for the reply, Hank. That's getting to be one of the problems with shooting film. I'll keep looking.

Holland in Austin. Holland Photo Imaging Quote:
Professional Film Processing
Holland Photo Imaging is Austin's last full-service film processing lab. We exclusively use dip-and-dunk processors for our E-6, C-41, and black & white film processing. We can process film from 35mm to 8x10 size in all three film types. Austin customers, please stop in with your film for processing, most film is processed same day. Out of Austin and your lab has stopped processing film? You can mail us your film, we can process it and mail it back. We cater to both the professional and the casual photographer. As always, we do not charge for blank rolls.

You will need to find a lab though, I guarantee Wal Mart does not process E6. Maybe mail it out to BWC here in Dallas. Thats where all my classmates went to process theirs.

The total for their service is less than the postage for "mail it out yourself." Turnaround here in Houston is under 2 weeks.

Depending on how the roll from the pinhole comes out, they'll quite likely be getting a lot more of it from me in the not-too-distant future.

I just wish I could get the folks at MY Walmart to call when the film comes in. I go before the 2 weeks are up & the film is there. I'll go sooner next time.

They're pretty johnny on the spot on S. Grand Parkway, plus after the yeah this doesn't work with 135 ordeal they know who I am! Yesterday, I saw a pretty amazing reciprocity test of Portra 400 that showed a medium format pinhole image shot on Portra 400 at EI 100 for 60s. It looked fantastic. Given the minimal shift, and the fact that a roll of C-41 is less than a quarter the cost of development compared to E-6 I'm very very very tempted to order a whole bunch of Portra 400 mostly for pinhole use. Combined with my personal attempts w/ that film, I'm now pretty certain that it is absolutely useful from 100-1600 without doing any voodoo magic. Amazing. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
