Not really. It was the first quote that I disagree with. I have never seen a photo that did as you described in the first quote. Including Sam Haskin's work in Cowboy Kate. Several of his photos in that book are almost entirely made up of grain. The "mineral oil & kitty litter" that Westley speaks of. Yet the subject is still recognizable.
I love grain. Lots of it. The bigger the better. In the right place. At the right time.
