Film Negatives - 08-07-2011, 08:08 PM

I am on the hunt for the original negative of my favorite photograph taken by my great grandpa when I was a little kid. In this photograph is a beautiful moment in time where my grandmother and I are together down near the water of a local inland lake, its awesome! My questions to you guy are these:

* What are some ways to preserve negatives?

* If I Mat and Frame the single negative is there a certain way I should do it? Or do you have a link you can point me towards that breaks it down? Such as ways to make sure the negative wont stick to the glass or prevent it from fading.

* Anything creative to do with a ton of Negatives, such as an artistic project to use them? I have others that are not as sedimental and I would really enjoy doing something artsy with them. Only problem is I cant think of anything at the moment...

Please post your comments below, I am interested in seeing what you guys have to offer or come up with

Thank you for reading this post

Shop online for archival negative storage sleeves. They come in several sizes based on the film size to be stored. Find the negatives. Figure out what size film they are. Order sleeves. I would not mat and frame a negative.

What to do with a ton of negatives: Scan the best. Print the best of the best. Preserve the negatives. Keep the electronic TIFF files in two places.
