A Day in the Life of a High School Band Geek :P - 11-02-2011, 09:04 PM

Had this idea for a looooooooong time to post here, just now (about 3 weeks later) getting around to actually posting it, so here it goes... Pictures from the Bands of America Marching Band Competition...

(by the way, all of these are straight out of the camera... and I was mainly doing this for fun, no technique practiced here :/ )

Polishing our drums at 7 am the day of BOA... drumline's always the first ones there...

Drum Captain Ellen showing off her sparkling clean bass drum:

Classic Kareem "take a picture of meeeeeeeee!!!!":

Focus.

An encouraging hug:

Super Band Man Kyle:

Getting locked out of the percussion studio (our sanctuary)

On the bus, leaving the school (I have now concluded that it is near impossible to get any good pictures out of a bus window... I doubt they ever wash them...

On the bus...

WHAT?!?!?! *NOW* IT RAINS?!?!?!

My two best friends being weird...

Getting lost... again :/

Checking out the competition...

After the performacne... to the stands!!!

Watching our drum majors walk out onto the field for judging...

Andrew, my band photography buddy:

we didn't make finals (we were up against some of the nation's best bands), but Mr. Munoz always tells us he's proud...

Waiting for the bus home to leave, and watching the sunset...

Passing downtown on our way home...

Thanks for looking!

Andrew needs to work on his hand holding technique...

Nice snapshots. I graduated from Clear Lake HS in 2001. Much has changed there since then.

If i remember right I have preformed on that field as well. I was in the "Lake Hamilton Power Band" from Hot Springs, AR we always did fairly well and if i say so the best in the state in AR. Carrying 40lb. Quints up and down a field was hard work :P

Yeah this was at the woodlands hs. One of my band directors taught at Alvin but that was like 08-10. Yeah quints are heavy. I played bass 4 my freshman year, and I'm pretty short, and I was the only girl on the line then. :/

Thanks for the replies :)

Wow that's cool. This year we had 4 girls on the line, me on snare, my friend Camille on tenors, and two other girls on bass.
