laptop is wifi
phone communicates with laptop via wifi.

to me, you should be able to communicate with the laptop/camera
from anywhere you have phone service ???
i think both the phone, and the computer tether setup have to be on the same wifi network. at least, that's how all the other wifi based remote controllers work. it's still a really cool app though, and if nothing else, 9.99 is waaaaaay cheaper than the canon remote shutter release.

They probably won't bother since the users of those N cameras never let them out of their sight....

pointless to control liveview if u plan to be far enough from the computer to warrant using an iphone.

but then again, any reason to use an iphone.

I posted...then read...lol

it says they would if there's enough interest...guess it'll matter how much this app garners. At a cost of 19.99 I don't know how many people will bother with it.

Uhhhh... can someone explain to me why this is any different than just using the laptop alone?

Don't get me wrong, i love my iphone but it seems to me that you are pointlessly adding an extra piece of equipment that doesn't need to be there. Unless the iphone is doing something the laptop can't?

the laptop has a wire going to the camera.
the iphone doesn't have a wire going to the camera.
you don't have to be standing/sitting at your laptop to access the
tethering program. You can control aperture, shutter speed, focus, etc from your iphone while you are walking around the room interacting with your subjects.

Hmmm... what's the smallest, cheapest platform capable of running camera control software?

Ah ok, thanks, Tom.
My studio space is so small I'm never really out of reach of the computer.
