Thanks every one. Lots of great information and more to think about.

Since I have never used a macro lens before, I'm thinking now that I should stick with my first decision and get the Canon 100mm macro. What I'm wanting to do is shoot stationary objects in the house. I'm not ready to chase bugs yet!

I have had Tamron lenses before so I'll check that lens out also.

Money? Tom what's money? There always seems to be more equipment than there is money!

This is not something that I really really need, just want. So I may make do with what I have for now.

Lexie, check the buy/sell section. Someone in Houston just listed a 100 macro.

I love mine. It's actually one of my favorite lenses. You can't go wrong with it, in my book.

Thanks Lisa, I sent a PM and it's not a macro. Thanks for watching for me though.

I think the 100 macro is a good choice. A relatively affordable set of extension tubes, when you're ready, will let you increase the magnification even more. Take a look at shots in the macro section of this forum ... beautiful work by very talented, helpful and friendly people!

Thanks Todd. I already have a set of Kenko extension tubes. I've been using them with the 70mm-200mm f/2.8. It works, but I still want a macro lens. After reading the information posted here and a bit of research, I have decided my next purchase will be the Canon 100mm macro.

Lexie
I just ordered a Canon 100 mm macro from Rogers Camera. In stock and I'll have it on Monday.

I almost ordered one from there, but I found one here on the forum. It should be here by the end of the week! I've heard they are excellent lens. I can't wait to try it out!

Thanks! I will keep Amazon in mind for future purchases.
