Exclamation Error message on my Nikon D50 - 07-06-2009, 12:36 PM

I use my D50 quite frequently, so, to my surprise - over the weekend, I pulled it out to shoot some fireworks, and noticed some kind of flashing message: "fEE"

Needless to say-I didn't take any pics......

Does anyone know what this flashing messages means, and how to solve? (before I resort to taking it in for repair)

I think "fEE" means your lens is either not seated properly on the camera or there's some issue with the aperture ring.

Make sure the aperture ring is set to F22, on mine its the orange number. I had the same problem the other day.

And when I was using the Sigma 70-200 on Friday I would get the same message every now and then. Turns out I was turning the aperture ring inadvertently and throwing the connection off.

Chris is correct....make sure that you place the lens at the highest apertureor lowest value....I would put the aperture lock on...just so you don't move it......that's for Chris....

If that does not work...try cleaning the contacts....just in case something got on them....and is not letting the lens talk to the body...

Let us know if it fixes it or not...

Good news! I checked the aperture ring setting, and it was set to 2.8! I don't how it got like that, but I set back to f22, and my camera fired right up and the lens spun around, and I was back in business!

Although, I thought I was going to have to buy a new body......(at least it would've been a good excuse to buy one, right?!)....

Thank you to all that replied with your suggestions!

That's ok Richard, just order the new Pentax K7D and you will be assimilated, but it is a benevolent assimilation
