Recently there had been rumors and sightings of a new Olympus DSLR. The E-600 had a few pics floating around but no announcement. Finally there is confirmation,

A strip down version of the E-620 without lighted buttons, without 3 art filters, without aspect masks, without double exposure. So basically we get a smaller 520 with 12mp and lousy battery that is not consistent with the rest of the cameras........WHY?

Doesn't really make sense to me. Isn't the price of the 620 just $100 more? I don't think they will sell many of these, except when they close them out for $350.

$599 with 14-42 lens is what I have seen. I am not rich, but it takes more than $100 worth of difference in cameras change my mind. the difference in the e4XX line and the E5xx line has generally ran $100, in USD. I just can't figure that out.... So I just go on shooting with the 520 and buy better lenses.

Reminds me of the thread(s) on the rumored Canon 7D, which appears to be a stripped-down, watered-down and pointless take on the full-frame 5D.

I'd buy one if I had the money and gladly save the $100. Seems like some of the features being dropped can be done with more control in Photoshop. They are gimmicks. As like as the sensor is better than my e-510 and it retains the tilt/swivel LCD (just for low angle shots) it would be fine with me.
