Possible leak of Leica M9 and X1 picture - 09-02-2009, 07:49 PM

If these are correct, the X1 is not what I expected. We'll see in 7 days.

The Leica X1 is real (not sure about the Leica M9 picture). Here are some of the specs (they were part of the picture comments on flickr, but are now all gone):
  • 12 mp APSC CEMOS sensor
  • Leica Elmarit 24mm f/2.8 ASPH l;ens (equivalent to 35mm)
  • Manual exposure operations (shutter dial/aperture dial
  • Autofocus
  • Built-in flash (this is the circle cover on top right)
  • Bundled with Adobe Lightroom
  • Made in Germany
Here are the Leica M9 specs:
  • Full frame CCD 24×36mm 18.2 mp sensor
  • Improved image noise performance at high ISO settings
  • Improved operation reactivity
  • SD card slot
  • Bundled with Adobe Lightroom
Regarding availability: the rumor is that the Leica M9 will be available for sale next week and the Leica X1 will be in stores in few months.

I always thought those cameras were so wierd.

If i wanted a film body camera, i would buy an old school film camera.

Are they trying to appeal to hipsters who love vintage sh|t?

No they are appealing to photographers who want some of the finest optics and cameras made.

70 years of lenses and a tradition of high excellence stand behind the M9.

More on the X1, Leica has registered the trade name in Germany.

Its design seems to reflect some of the Rollie Q35W.
