The early high ISO samples I've seen on the Web suggest that noise performance has improved modestly by about ~1 stop at ISO 1250 and 2500 compared to the M8. People shouldn't expect D3/5D high ISO performance from the M9, barring some improved noise processing algorithms via M9 firmware updates.

Let me know one thing. I know I might get flamed for this, but I've seen how Canon Lenses are made and realize WHY they're somewhat expensive (which is a relative term).
Why are Leica lenses so darn 'expensive'? $4200 for a 35mm 1.4 MANUAL FOCUS!?
Trying to cover the whole focal range? Fuggedaboudit!

Trying to cover the whole focal range? Fuggedaboudit! | Regarding the question of why Leica lenses are so expensive, here is a site that attempts to offer an explanation (an explanation that admittedly is partly objective and partly emotional): http://www.stevehuffphotos.com/Steve...VE_A_SOUL.html

Trying to cover the whole focal range? Fuggedaboudit! | Well, they are hand made in germany. Plus they say Leica on them. That little leica seal costs like $3,000 all by itself!

Well on DPReview, they have a Leica factory tour. After viewing that and seeing the extensive calibrating and testing they do with a body, I can kind of understand the $8k M9 price tag. But I haven't seen how the lenses are made. They are a bit smaller than conventional lenses (right?) and the glass certainly looks smaller. Plus, they're manual focus. I'd like to know what's behind this other than a designer name.
