Canon 7D High ISO and real life examples - 09-10-2009, 08:40 AM

Good morning Tom:

I saw the same article. I downloaded some of the high ISO examples and ran them through Topaz Denoise and they cleaned up well.

I'll be glad when Adobe upgrades their RAW converter so someone can post some shots done in raw.

I might be tempted to upgrade from my ole 30D. I'm up to almost 4500 exposures on the shutter.

Good morning back at ya.

The canon DPP should be good to convert RAW. I've used Adobe, but have recently been advised to try the Canon Converter.
The High ISO seems to be reasonable. In a year or two we'll all be shooting everything at ISO 25,000 or something anyways.

I'm looking forward to getting my copy of this camera. I'm mostly happy with my 40D's but think that the movie capability is something I'm going to have to deal with sooner or later, and for $1700 it might as well be sooner.

I am looking forward to it, but because it is the same battery system as the 5D2, I think I am going to save to upgrade my 10D/40D/50D system to a 5D2/7D/7D system. Should be a nice all purpose camera set.

No doubt that will be a great system. I was putting some aside for a 5DII and would still love to get one. Perhaps the 7D will someday become the backup to a 5DII. Right now, I've got the $$ in the bank and want a new camera, and I want one RIGHT NOW

+1 on that. The 7D is likely the death-knell for the BP-511. I'm OK with that, but that means I'll probably wait until I can revamp my system. I'm finally down to just two kinds of batteries!

Yeah.

I already have the BP-511 (well like 20 of them because of my trip to the Sudan) and the battery for the 1D3 and the battery for the 1D2/1Ds2. I do not need anything else to add to that. It is a big PITA as it is.

Thanks Canon!

I've seen a wide range of prices on the BP-511. Anyone know where to get the best, reliable deal?

Search for it on this forum. There was some third hand manufacturer that sold them for like $12. That's how I stocked up.
