Amazing. Reichmann's shows the same stunning detail. It will be interesting to see how the S2 does, and if sales are slow until the lenses with the leaf shutters become available.

Comperable to a lot of MF systems.

The real appeal of the S2 system is the lenses and the smaller former factor of the body (although I think the size is being somewhat overplayed, because the lenses are actually bigger than some of the Hassy/Mamiya/etc lenses).
I wonder how much of a dent they'll make in the MF market with this. They're going to have to beef up their dealer network and get into the rental houses to really make inroads with commercial and fashion photographers IMHO.

Having to buy into a new lens system sucks. S2 is a closed system whereas Phase One is modular and crossplatform.

It's a nice image, but to be honest with you, so are the ones I've shot with my H2 Hassy and a rented P25+ Phase One. $20K+ is still a bit steep IMHO...

Just out of curiosity... is there anyone on this forum who's actually serious enough to invest in the S2 system.... seriously ?
I can understand people (with deep deep pockets) actually forking out $6995 for the M9... especially those that already have the M8... but close to $40K+ for the S2 system... how does one recover this investment ... especially when the Phase / Hassy or other MF systems can do the job. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
